''A talented and passionate drummer with a delightfully strong collaborative spirit!''- Kuljit Bhamra MBE
'You lead beautifully... cracking class'
- K., Devon Participant
A few words from India, Felicity's eldest daughter:
" 'Remember,' Mum always used to say to us 'don't ever think you have no rhythm. There's rhythm in your feet as you walk, in your lungs as they breathe and in your heart as it beats. Just you being alive proves that rhythm comes naturally to you.'
"I don't think there's anything my mum does that makes her as happy as drumming. She somehow didn't even stop when she was pregnant with both me and my sister. I know that liveliness she so obviously experiences when she plays is one of the many reasons she makes such a good teacher. There's a very apparent love for the craft, even after her 38 years of playing, meaning her methods of teaching have always been captivatingly enthusiastic. Plus, they're easy to pick up, which is always nice! After 10mins everything begins to feel natural and you can start to really experiment and play around with rhythm. In a way, that's where the 'teaching' stops and instead becomes leading. The drumming patterns begin sounding more and more like a conversation without words which, I personally think, is where the beauty really starts to radiate from the players both individually and as a group.
And, as I'm sure you can imagine, this energy transfers itself very fluidly in to her coaching. The aim for both is sort of similar in that she's not necessarily there to 'teach', but to listen and lead.
She's been all sorts, my mum; a gymnast, a dancer, a potter, a masseur and body worker, a natural health practitioner, a percussionist, a drum circle facilitator, a lead singer, a Singing Camp team leader, a puppeteer, and an ontological student, coach and facilitator, and with every new passion she brings with her the vibrance and persistence she's had throughout her life. I'm proud to have picked up even a handful of the skills she's taught me over the years."

Wingman, Techno Whizz & Craft Worker
Some words from Felicity:

India is my Wingman and we would sink without her.

Not only is India an inspirational Craftworker but she is also an intergral part of the crew on Drumbreaks.

As a craftworker she has been supoorted by The Kings Trust in her business
'A Greener Shade'. She makes the most beautiful pieces of home craftwork in the form of rugs and blankets, as well as beautiful clothes. These are all very much in eveidence at any Rhythms of Grace event!

She is also the only one who knows how to work the website...
(I don't actually know much about computers,
but Mum knows even less)

Miki Dedijer
The Viking Chef
A few words from Felicity:
I am delighted that we have Miki Dedijer, our Viking Chef, joining us all the way from Sweden, on Drumbreaks again. There is no-one I would rather have cooking for us in the middle of a field.
When I met Miki some years ago, he was a farmer, and had been for 20 years. He grew all his own vegetables, caught fish in the nearby ocean, raised Orpington hens, produced vats of wild cider, and made duck breast carpaccio, while enjoying a close relationship with the land and the kitchen table.
Today, cooking is not a profession, but a way of life. Now as a gardener his close relationship with the land and the kitchen table is still very much in evidence.
As a leader of the art of mentoring camp for many years, he supported the formation of village-minded community drawing on countless practices from indigenous cultures. He has been a leader with The Mankind Project, an Ecologist, an Environmental Journalist, a Photographer, a Documentary Film Maker, A Survival Instructor, A group Facilitator, a Mentor, a leader of Men’s Circles, a Father, a Parenting Coach. He is also a long-term scholar of village-mindedness and human-making at Stephen Jenkinson's orphan wisdom school. He has walked an eclectic path, yes, one that circles around a shared humanity deeply rooted in a lived and loving relationship to Nature.
Given the choice, nothing speaks more to him than growing food, cooking food, and sharing food under an open sky to celebrate and affirm our sense of humanity and belonging. We have on the team not just a Cook but a Philosopher, an Ecologist of the Soul, and a Storyteller.
Miki has cooked and eaten both indoors and outdoors since he was a child. He loves being in the kitchen and has a penchant for rustic, simple farm food, which he shares with his teenage boys. He was on the panel of judges at the first Wilderness Chef competition in Sweden. He has eaten perch caught with his hands and prepared meals in all seasons from nature.
I am extremely grateful to him for being willing to join us, and having tasted his cooking both indoors and outdoors and the obvious care that is expressed through it, I am thrilled to bits!
